I am Editor and Outreach Co-ordinator at Open Book Publishers, a non-profit, scholar-led Open Access book publisher. I also work on outreach for the COPIM project (Community-led Open Publication Infrastructure for Monographs), which is creating open source, community-governed infrastructure to support OA book publishing. I am part of the Open Access Books Network.

PhD student at the Université de Montréal (Québec, Canada) in French Literature, my research is about publication process in literature area. Arthur is the co-founder and managing director of Electric Book Works, an agency that turns ordinary publications into engaging websites, ebooks, and printed editions. He co-founded healthcare publisher Bettercare; children’s book publisher Book Dash; and Paperight, an award-winning experiment in distributed print-on-demand. He worked for multinational publishers before starting EBW in 2006. He is a Shuttleworth Foundation fellow.

Gimena is a researcher at CONICET (Argentina). She coordinates the Digital Humanities Lab (HD CAICYT Lab, CONICET). She is interested in the many ways of editing digitally literary and academic texts and open research practices related to the Humanities.

Nidia works at the Argentine Center for Scientific and Technological Information (CAICyT-CONICET). She develops resources for georeferencing Early Modern Latin American texts and participates on the publication of digital editions for the Digital Humanities laboratory (HDLAB). She is also a member of the Documentation and Research Laboratory in Linguistics and Anthropology (DILA), where she collaborates with the documentation, processing and analysis of endangered languages of South America.

My primary academical interest is applied epistemology, more specifically how humans form the capacity to gain knowledge in different environments – such as during Human-Computer Interaction. Currently my research focuses on fake news, publishing, Open Science, Metascience, and virtue egoism in its relation to epistemic virtues.

Constallations is a research project, a laboratory: Alix Desaubliaux, Pascale Barret and Annie Abrahams started it in May 2018. In 2020 Carin Clonowski, Alice Lenay and Gwendoline Samidoust joined the group. Constallationss uses the internet, challenges and surprises as tools. Julia Stewart Lowndes, PhD is a marine data scientist championing kinder, better science in less time through open data science and teamwork. She leads programs to empower science teams with skillsets and mindsets for open, reproducible research, including through Openscapes, which she founded as a Mozilla Fellow in 2018, and with the Ocean Health Index team at NCEAS. Data science with R was her entryway to open publishing, and she openly builds program resources with RMarkdown and GitHub.

I am the Open Science Officer of DARIAH, a European Research Infrastructure for Arts and Humanities. Here I am responsible for fostering and implementing Open Science practices across the DARIAH network. My background is linguistics, my PhD is a corpus study on the evolution of certain Hungarian word-formation patterns.

Daniela is a Managing Editor for microPublication Biology and a Curator for WormBase at the California Institute of Technology. With microPublication Biology she advocates for direct incorporation of peer-reviewed single experimental observations into established biological repositories.

Nicolas Taffin is a publisher and graphic designer with a philosophical background, who parts his time between images, letters and code. Co-founder of C&F éditions with Hervé Le Crosnier. He also taught publishing at the University of Caen-Normandy, directed the magazine Communication imprimée and chaired the typographic association of the Rencontres internationales de Lure for ten years.

Free software developer and researcher. He is the founder of “Decentralized Science” European Project and is currently finishing his PhD on Decentralized Governance tools for online communities. He has also participated in the European Projects P2P Models and P2Pvalue. His experience developing decentralized web tools includes Teem, SwellRT and decentralized.science, using technologies such as Blockchain and IPFS.

With a background in Evolution and Developmental Biology, Jo is a trainer and consultant in [Open] Science Communication and [digital] Science Project Management and co-founder of AfricArXiv. Loraine Furter is a graphic designer, researcher and teacher specialized in editorial design, hybrid publishing and intersectional xfeminism. Loraine is currently a PhD student in Sint Lucas Antwerp where she works on the project Speaking Volumes — art, activism and feminist publishing. Eleanor is the Research Relationships Manager at the University of New England, NSW. In this role she works closely with the Research Office, Faculties, and Librarians to advocate on a number of topics including Open Scholarship, strategic publishing practices, and ethical use of metrics. Other key projects include coordinating the creation of postgraduate information and research literacy skills in an online environment.

Thomas also directly writes for the encyclopedia, with articles he’s written or overhauled having >30 million views per annum.

John Chodacki is Director of the University of California Curation Center (UC3) at California Digital Library (CDL). As UC3 Director, John works across the UC campuses and the broader community to ensure that CDL’s digital curation services meet the emerging needs of the scholarly community – including digital preservation, persistent identifiers, research data management, and data publishing.

Abrüpt is a factory of books and antibooks. It mainly publishes experimental french speaking literature, social science and art zines. What drives Abrüpt is the use of digital tools to try to create a new dynamic within the textual form. All its publications are also placed under public licenses and they exist in a free version on the web. Abrüpt aims for texts to be fully cybernetic by their movement on the network through their form, content, and political approach.

tiago fioravante is a journalist and independent researcher, working in the intersections of communications, arts, and culture.
